MOROCCO: Renovation at the orphanage

Since 2018, Vitogaz Morocco has been committed to supporting the Dar Al Atfal Sidi Bernoussi Orphanage in the north of Casablanca (Lycée Lyautey).

March 2022

As part of the CSR strategy implemented within the affiliate, supported by the Group, Vitogaz Morocco has been committed since 2018 to supporting the Dar Al Atfal Sidi Bernoussi Orphanage in the North of Casablanca.

By intervening primarily in the renovation of the collective kitchens three years ago, thus enabling the daily provision of meals to all the residents, Vitogaz Morocco then focused on the renovation of the living spaces.

The aim of this operation, which is to provide the residents of the orphanage with a pleasant and comfortable living environment, was to improve the recreational area and embellish the facades of the dormitory building. The work started in April 2021 and was completed in March 2022. The orphanage has around 300 residents aged between 15 and 36. Most of them are abandoned children.

After nearly a year of work by the volunteer teams and thanks to donations from Vitogaz Morocco and Rubis, the inauguration of the revamped orphanage took place on Saturday 19 March 2022, to which VITOGAZ Morocco was invited.

On this occasion, the refurbished rooms, namely the library, the kitchen, the TV area, the theatre of Plastic Arts as well as the dormitories were presented to the various individual donors, institutions and corporate sponsors.

The aim of this ceremony was to present the end of a large part of the renovation work of this establishment and to allow everyone to measure the work carried out and the work still to be done.

The renovation of the Sidi Bernoussi orphanage is in line with VITOGAZ Morocco’s civic-minded actions, as it has chosen to give priority to its human capital by implementing a strong social policy.

By organizing targeted actions for the most needy, VITOGAZ Morocco has renewed its support for the Orphanage for 2022, which is part of its CSR approach strongly supported and driven by the Rubis Group.
