CHANNEL ISLANDS: launch of fuel oil EcoHeat100

EcoHeat100 – A 100% renewable domestic fuel oil

Launch of the EcoHeat100, a renewable domestic fuel oil capable of reducing carbon emissions over its entire life cycle by up to 90%.

July 2021

At Rubis Energie, we are taking steps with you towards a greener future, offering an immediate solution to reduce the carbon emissions of fuel-heated households and businesses in the Channel Islands.

Rubis Channel Islands (F.S.C.I) is the first fuel distributor to offer renewable domestic fuel oil in Britain. We are at the forefront of the transition to local liquid energy, are fully aligned with the intention of both islands to become carbon neutral and have been working with the government on how to achieve this.

We believe that if a customer wants to be carbon neutral, they should have a choice between several energy suppliers and not have to spend thousands of pounds on a new heating system. EcoHeat100 allows domestic fuel customers to do just that: change fuel rather than change their entire heating system. Although the EcoHeat100 is slightly more expensive than traditional fuel oil, for those looking to switch to another electricity to be more environmentally friendly, we now have a more cost-effective option than installing a new electric heating system.

You can compare the running costs of EcoHeat100 compared with other energy sources in our helpful table here, see how much you can save on EcoHeat100 compared to gas or electricity.

Rubis EcoHeat100 is a renewable heating oil that can directly replace kerosene or diesel oil and is a pragmatic alternative to less environmentally friendly domestic heating. An excellent choice for combating climate change, EcoHeat100 is just as effective as your usual fuel oil and reduces carbon emissions by 90% during its life cycle. At the local level, we will benefit from better air quality, thanks to the cleaner properties of the EcoHeat100, we will benefit from a reduction in hydrocarbons, NOx, carbon monoxide and particles.

It is a hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), a second-generation biofuel of superior quality made from renewable and sustainable raw materials, such as used cooking oils and residual fats. It has been successfully tested by Rubis Channel Islands and OFTEC in the UK, demonstrating the huge potential of this oil to help meet the challenge of decarbonising homes and offices. This renewable liquid fuel adapts to all existing fuel oil heating systems, thanks to a simple and cost-effective conversion process that will take no more than one morning to switch you to this fuel.

In addition to local and global environmental benefits, with EcoHEat100 you will continue to enjoy the warmth and comfort that fuel heating systems bring to your home.

Globally, and closer to home, targets and plans have been set to achieve net zero carbon. We believe that if we act together, we can act more quickly and make a difference, regardless of the scale of our approach. With a growing range of sustainable products for your vehicles and now for your homes and businesses, we are committed to helping shape a greener future.
