In line with its commitment to education and youth in the Bahamas and as part of its commitment to education and youth there, Rubis Bahamas provided the Bahamas Debutante Foundation and the Bahamas Primary School Student of The Year Foundation with $6,500 in scholarships as part of this global pandemic.

The realities of COVID-19 have had an impact on all sectors of the economy in Bahamas within increased pressure being placed on families.

“Rubis cares about every community in which we operate and the youth of our nation. We recognise and reward the diligence and perseverance of these students in their quest for success. Their years of hard work and sacrifice must not go unnoticed despite the challenges and setbacks faced by Covid-19. We will continue to contribute to the growth and development of Bahamian excellence,” said Latia Duncombe, Director of Sales and Marketing at Rubis Bahamas.

The Bahamas Debutante Foundation and the Bahamas Primary School Student of The Year Foundation are two important organisations dedicated to educating Bahamian students and ensuring that they are recognised and rewarded for their outstanding achievements. Funds donated by Rubis are used to provide scholarships to deserving students. As a responsible company, Rubis hopes to encourage students to excel.

In a letter of thanks, Demian Brice II (one of the winners) wrote: ‘As the world faces challenging economic times, I congratulate Rubis on continuing to invest in the future of students like me. The scholarship will be used to pay my tuition at St. Augustine’s College. Please be assured that I intend to continue to strive for academic excellence in pursuing my dream of becoming an engineer.”
